Library Rules and Regulations

Please

  • Always keep your ID card at the time of entry to the library

  • The library is kept open from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM - Monday to Saturday (except MAHE holidays).

  • No bags are allowed inside, should be left at the property shelf.

  • When you are in the library, please respect other user’s needs

  • Silence should be maintained and cell phones should be switched off or keep in silent mode inside the library

  • Consumption of food and refreshments are not permitted inside. They are allowed only in the pantry area.

  • Courteous and polite behaviour is expected from all users.

  • Take care of materials housed in the library. If not, they are liable for punishment.

  • Every library user should clear all the dues and obtain a ‘No Dues Certificate’ at the end of academic year. 

  • Librarian/library staffs are NOT responsible for the lost/misplace of borrowed books.

  • Borrower should pay/replace for lost/misplace of borrowed books.

  • Librarian can recall back any borrowed book at any time.

  • Return the library borrowed books on time.

Please 

  • DO make it a habit to visit the library regularly, ideally every day; and dedicate time to reading.

  • DO follow the rules and regulations of the library, and University as well.

  • DO respect the ‘copyright law’ of the library while doing photocopy / scanning of a book.

    • Usually, you may copy one chapter of a book OR up to 10% of the total pages (whichever is greater)

    • Copying the entire book is strictly not allowed

  • DO use the online information retrieval tools and save your time.

  • DO use remote access device i.e. ‘Open Athens’ to access the library resources.

  • DO contact Librarian / library staff for any information. They will try to solve at their best. 

  • DO give your suggestions and feedback if any for the development of the library, and is available in our MAHE library global web portal - https://mahelibportal.manipal.edu/mishalibrary

Please 

  • DO NOT forget that the library is for the utility of everyone.

  • DO NOT tear/damage any library book/property.

  • DO NOT mark/highlight the library materials (books, journals etc.) in any manner.

  • DO NOT misplace books.

  • DO NOT delay in returning a borrowed book.

  • DO NOT keep your valuable things in the library. The library accepts NO responsibility for the loss or damage of any articles left.
