MCNS - Library Overview

Library Overview

MCNS library was established in 2013 when the Manipal Centre for Natural Sciences was conceived as a unique Centre within MAHE to cater to cutting-edge research in Natural Sciences. The library is situated in the right wing of the Dr. T. M. A. Pai Planetarium building at Manipal. The Wi-Fi enabled library offers a wide range of online resources, textbooks, research books, reference books, and back volumes to assist fundamental research in the physical sciences, astronomy & astrophysics, earth sciences, chemistry, and computational sciences. The library also serves as a resource centre for scientific outreach with its collection of popular and educational audio-video materials and nature books collection.
The library collection and services have been automated using Koha library management software. Users can search the availability of print collections viz., books, journals, back volumes of journals, theses, etc. through the library’s OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue). The library is providing research support services such as individual user consultancy for accessing online resources and online checking of the originality of documents using Turnitin. MCNS Library conducts awareness programs about the availability and utilization of library resources (physical and online) for effective use.
