Library Services
All eight libraries on MAHE Bengaluru campus provides needbased effective services to make the user experience fruitful and supportive to their teaching, learning and research works. Some of the most important library services are:
- Online public access catalogue (OPAC): All libraries are automated using Koha LMS and Web-OPACs are available. One can select the library and conduct search to know the availability of books in the resepctive libraries.
- Library Portals
We have a very dynamic library portal which is a one stop for all the required information and also provides access to various useful links and resources
- Reading Spaces: Services for differently-abled individuals include talking screen readers for the blind, walking ramps, tactile flooring, capsule lifts, and common wheelchairs.
- Circulation of Textbooks/Reference materials : We use RFID integrated circulation system. Users can borrow books at any time using there MAHE ID and on an averge daily 200 transactions (issu+return+renew) happens from all eight libraries. We use Smart Stock to conduct annual stock verifications of library collection.
- Database trainings : It is always important to create awareness about new resources subscribed by the library. Library conduct various training programs for users.
- Author Workshops: The library organizes workshops with publishers to assist users in publishing articles. The DoR helps to organize author workshops and research ethics sessions. The MAHE BLR library coordinates to create awareness among Bengaluru users.
- Books Drop Box: A drop box in the Level I lobby provides an easy way for users to return books.
- Computer Services: We have 10 computers with internet access, academic database search, and printing facilities in the library.
- Current Awareness Service: The library informs users about new additions through display boards and by publishing updates on the library’s webpage.
- Grammarly Tool: An online tool for grammar and spelling checks, available through the library’s website to assist users in improving their writing.
- Inter-Library Loan/Document Delivery: The library helps obtain materials from DELNET and other libraries to expand its collection for faculty, students, and researchers.
- Internet Access/Wi-Fi: Dedicated internet browsing sections (computer lab) and Wi-Fi coverage are available across the library’s reading halls.
- IP-Based Access to e-Resources (Campus Access): Access to subscribed e-resources is available through the campus network for faculty, students, and researchers.
- Library Spaces: Designed to meet various needs, the library offers reading areas, group study spaces for UG, PG, and research students, as well as private study rooms.
- OpenAthens (SSO – Remote Access to e-Resources): Users can access subscribed e-resources remotely through the OpenAthens Single Sign-On (SSO) system using their Office 365 credentials.
- Photocopying: Users can get photocopies of articles and book chapters as needed.
- Publication Finder (A-Z Resources: Journals, Books, Databases): The Library provides access to a comprehensive collection of resources, including journals, books, and databases, through the Publication Finder. These resources are available for browsing by subject on the library's webpage, allowing users to explore the full range of subscribed materials easily.
- Question Paper Archives: Users can access previous years' question papers via the library’s web page.
- Reference Service: Library staff provides personal assistance in navigating the collection for research and study, helping users locate relevant resources.
- RFID/Wi-Fi/CCTV: The library uses advanced RFID technology, Wi-Fi, and CCTV for security and efficient service.
- Shelf Check-Out & Self Check-In Kiosk: Located on Level I, this kiosk offers users a convenient way to borrow and return books independently.
- Training in Accessing e-Resources: The library arranges training sessions from time to time for the users to conduct effective literature searches using e-resources.
- Turnitin: A service to check document originality and prevent plagiarism, available upon request through the library.
- Unified Library Services Solution (Library Web Page):
The Unified Library Services Solution, accessible through the library's web page, combines Stacks with a Web-Scale Discovery Service. This integrated system enables a comprehensive search across all library materials, including subscribed and open-acces resources.
