The Central Library KMC,Mangalore provides various value-added services to enhance user experience beyond its standard offerings. These consist of:

  • Circulation: Books are issued to interns, postgraduates, research scholars, and faculty, while journals and multimedia materials are for in-house use only
  • Internet Service: A fully equipped computer lab provides internet access and allows for academic database searches.
  • Inter-Library Loan: The library acquires materials from SEARCH Health science Library, Manipal and other libraries to enhance its collection for faculty, students, and researchers.
  • Internet Access/Wi-Fi: Dedicated sections for internet browsing and Wi-Fi access are available throughout the library's reading halls.
  • CD-ROM Access: The library's CD-ROM collection features multimedia resources and back issues of medical journals.
  • Current Awareness Service: The library informs users about new additions via display boards and updates published on the library's webpage.
  • Grammarly Tool: An online tool for checking grammar and spelling, accessible via the library's website to help users enhance their writing skills.
  • IP-Based Access to e-Resources (Campus Access): Access to subscribed e-resources is available for faculty, students, and researchers through the campus network.
  • Library Spaces: The library is designed to accommodate various needs, featuring reading areas, group study spaces for undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students, as well as private study rooms.
  • OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue): The OPAC enables users to search for all print resources in the library’s collection, accessible through the library’s website.
  • OpenAthens (SSO – Remote Access to e-Resources): Users can access their subscribed e-resources remotely via the OpenAthens Single Sign-On (SSO) system using their Office 365 credentials.
  • Photocopying: Users can request photocopies of articles and book chapters as needed.
  • Question Paper Archives: Users can access previous years' question papers via the library’s web page.
  • Reference Service: Library staff assists users in navigating the collection for research and study, helping them locate relevant resources.
  • RFID/Wi-Fi/CCTV: The library employs advanced RFID technology, Wi-Fi, and CCTV to ensure security and provide efficient service.
  • Unified Library Services Solution (Library Web Page): The Unified Library Services Solution, available on the library's website, integrates Stacks with a Web-Scale Discovery Service. This unified system allows for comprehensive searching of all library materials, including both subscribed and open-access resources.
  • Training in Accessing e-Resources: The library offers valuable training sessions designed to empower users in conducting efficient literature searches with e-resources.
