Library Overview
History
The MISHA Library has named after merging with the group of libraries of Manipal Centre for European Studies, Department of Philosophy, Department of Languages, Geopolitics & International Relations, Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts & Sciences, and Manipal Centre for Humanities. The MISHA Library works with two different campuses. One is in Valley Campus i.e. in Old WGSHA Building, 4th floor, Opp. to Kasturba Hospital OPD, with an area of 2582 square feet. Another one is in Lake Campus i.e. near Life Sciences Building, Planetarium Complex with an area of 1991.32 square feet.
Objectives
The library aims to acquire and disseminate the information resources on Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts.
To provide timely, accurate, and up-to-date information and resources.
Working Hours
From Monday to Saturday (except MAHE Holidays) | 09.00 a.m. To 8.00 p.m. |
Administration
The library is led by a professionally qualified Librarians. Apart from the Librarians, there are supportive staff members who handle the library's daily operations.
Guidelines for the users
- Readers who visit the library should bring their Identity Card.
- Bags, briefcases, and handbags are not allowed inside the library. Such bags, briefcases, handbags, etc., may be left on the property shelf provided in the library.
- Users are advised NOT to keep their valuable things in the library. The library accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage of any articles left.
- Books, journals, etc., taken from the shelves for reading should be left on the tables after use and ‘NOT’ to be replaced on the shelves.
All books/journals are to be used with care. The student who has the book is responsible for any damage or loss.
Readers in the library are prohibited from engaging in conversation, misusing the furniture or conducting discussions and marking/highlighting in the library materials (books, journals etc.) in any manner.
Silence, decorum and discipline must be maintained in the library.
Beverages and eatables are prohibited in the library.
- Mobiles phones are to be switched off or to be kept on silent mode inside the library.
- People making use of the library shall observe the regulations and general rules of good behavior as set forth in the college calendar.
- Copyright law should be strictly observed by all library users while making copies of library materials.
Maintenance of library materials (books/journals/magazines, etc) should be treated as a collective responsibility of all the members of the library.
For information regarding other databases and library resources, you may approach the Librarian or Library Staffs.
The above guidelines are subject to periodic review and revision. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in the suspension of library privileges and could lead to disciplinary action by the Institution or University.

Cataloging
